Steve entered his first trial, with his first dog ‘Minnie’ in 1979. He fared very well which was a relief considering it cost over a month’s wages to purchase her. The legendary Peter Moxon had a few encouraging words for the young Keeper, mentioned him in the letter below, and sent along this picture…
The following 12 years were spent focusing on Game Keeping, and training spaniels for work in the field. After training a winner for a well known trialer in 1991, Steve started trialing his own dogs again.
He continued to breed a style of spaniel that showed the traditional characteristics that were present in Minnie but not so common in the popular spaniel of the day.
In more recent years, Steve has played a significant part in training winners for himself and others…Glancarw Chadwick, Castlepride Buzz, Castlepride Dragonfly, Bradwall Billy and Mysticpride Highspirit who is currently at stud in America.

Boudicca our springer had 9 lovely pups sired by Brad just over 3 years ago, and each springer is a credit to their new owners, as Steve said, Brad produces good looking ,intelligent ,always willing to please puppies.
I highly recommend Steve as a trainer and breeder ,very helpful when we had our litter, always there at the end of the telephone when we needed him,
We kept a puppy called Cuthbert, who is image of his dad Brad.
